What is the local voltage? The voltage is 240V - same as UK, and all plug sockets are UK fittings. So UK hairdryers and other appliances work in Cyprus the same as UK.

Is Northern Cyprus in the EU? No. Southern Cyprus is in the EU - but Northern Cyprus is not. The currency is Turkish Lira - you will be a millionaire - which is fun! English currency is taken almost everywhere, in shops and restaurants. It is recommended that you change currency in Cyprus, as you get a better rate.

Where is the best airport to fly into? The closest airport to fly to is Ercan, in Northern Cyprus. Flights appear to be direct, although you have to fly via Turkey with a 45 minute wait on the tarmac.
We prefer to fly to Larnaca in Southern Cyprus as its a shorter flight time, and there are many more airlines flying there - and its therefore cheaper. We can arrange taxi transfer from Northern Cyprus who will come and collect you. We do not advise hiring a car from Larnaca airport as the insurance is not valid in Northern Cyprus and you may get stopped at the border.
The best airline to Ercan (pronounced Erjan) is Cyprus Turkish Airlines (Kibris Turk Hava Yollari)
Flights to Larnaca can be found through www.Opodo.com or through www.skyscanner.net or Monarch airlines have just started a service to Larnaca and appear to be quite competitive.

Do I need a visa? No. You just need a valid passport, with at least 3 months to run
